Nightsweats....Hormones or sleeping with a friggin furnace.

I am having trouble sleeping again. I go through this every so often and it sucks. However we now have something new to contend with. The dreaded NIGHTSWEATS. So here is what happens just about every night here lately. I go to bed and fall asleep with no problem. About an hour or two later, I wake up sweating like crazy and feeling like I am going to burst into flames. I get up turn the air down to snow and lay back down on top of the covers. After about 3 mins the sweat has turned to ice. So now I'm cold. Crawl back under the covers and, here is the good part, press my cold limbs up to Sam. His usual response it to jump 3ft off the bed. Yes I know that is mean but damn I'm awake and need some entertainment. And the prossess starts all over again.

Now the women in my family go through "the change" pretty early. My grandmother thought she was done at age 42. Turns out she was just pregnant, but she didn't have another period. Not sure I want that trade off. Hell I know I don't want that trade off. So if it is hormones, then so be it. Lets get this show on the road and finnish the tour so to speak.

But here is the thing. Sleeping with Sam is like having your own personal heater in bed with you. It is great in the winter but not so much if it is above 70 degrees. When I wake up, Sam is either right up against my back or has an arm around me. Now I know you are thinking "how sweet". Ok not so much right now. He pulls me close, I push him away, I wake up sweating, turn air down, snuggle up to him, and the whole thing starts over again. This isn't even taking into account Sam's snoring and sleep apnea. So now you know why I'm not such a morning person here lately.

Captain's Log: 0001 Date: July 25, 2009

We boldly go where this Mom has never ventured before. Cyber space the final frontier. Yep that is me over there. Not a real good picture, but it is close to midnight so I'll find a better one later. I have been told many times that I need to start a blog. Why? I'm not sure. I think it may be because there is never a dull moment around here. I try to put a humerous spin on any and all situations making even the worst situation a good story.

I have been married to Sam for 24 years, and we have two sons and a diva. JB is 23 and is going through paramedic school while working as an EMT. AB is 19 and is in the Coast Guard, soon to be stationed in San Francisco. KB has just turned 16 and will be a junior in high school this year.

Besides being a wife and mother, I am also an ER nurse. Why do I specify ER nurse and not just say nurse. Trust me there is a difference. All of us that work in the ER are nurses, however all nurses are not cut out for the ER. Just ask anyone who works in a hospital and they will tell you ER folks are of a different breed. More about that later.

I love photography and hope that one day to make a living with the camera. There will be lots of pictures. I am a outside kind a girl that loves to get dirty and have fun. Softball, camping, kayaking, hiking, are just a few of our favorite activities.

Ok so Sam is fussing for me to turn off the light and go to bed. More later so stay tuned.
Peace out. TB
